About Waggy's

Hi! My name's Michelle and I run Waggy's.

I first started the business back in 2020, offering dog walking and sitting services, but I've always been animal mad. Before then, I studied animal care at college, earned a Zoology degree, and worked at a safari park before taking a role at an RSPCA rescue centre, where I decided that dogs are indeed my favourite animal.

After starting the business, I quickly went from walking a couple of dogs a day to being flat-out all week, spending every day with dogs of all shapes and sizes. I count myself incredibly lucky to have grown the Waggy's pack, full of lovely owners and even lovelier dogs.

When I worked in the rescue centre, there'd be occasions where you had to do little bits of grooming, whether that be trimming nails, bathing dogs, or giving cuts and trims. That was my first taste of grooming and I loved it. That's why I decided to enrol at a grooming school in Derby in 2023 and complete my training.

After completing my training, I spent some time with the fantastic Victoria of Happy Henry's, based at Amerton Farm, learning lots and getting stuck in with all aspects of grooming to put my training into practice, as well as practising on my very own labradoodle guinea pig, Maggie (pictured).

Finding the Waggy's Balance

There are all kinds of grooming approaches out there, but all dogs are different and there's no one-size-fits-all way of doing things. To find the approach that's right for you and your pooch, we'll always do an initial dog meet and ask you all the right questions so we can decide how to achieve the best outcome for everyone involved, with a focus on your dog's health and happiness.
